Lowland Pumps was built on decades of engineering experience, craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Its story begins with BB Bradley, whose career has always centered on designing and building equipment and systems that work better, last longer, and serve real operational needs.
BB earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He began his professional career at American Enka in Morristown, a company that later transitioned through BASF and eventually became Lenzing Fibers. During his time there, BB was involved in a wide range of engineering and project management work, gaining hands-on experience across complex systems and industrial operations.
Throughout his career, BB was trained by skilled craftsmen who took pride not only in what they built, but how they built it. He participated in numerous training programs, explored different approaches to engineering challenges, and traveled to production facilities across the country to learn how other teams solved similar problems. These experiences shaped his practical, detail-driven approach and reinforced the value of quality workmanship and thoughtful design.
After more than 30 years with Lenzing Fibers, economic changes raised questions about the future. Shortly thereafter, BB received an unexpected call offering him a position with a new company, DNS Company. He joined the team and helped grow the business until it was later purchased by the owners of Tennessee Armature, who combined operations and founded Tekwell in Knoxville.
Following several years with Tekwell, BB retired and spent time with family, including a 28-day camping trip with his grandchildren from Morristown to Los Angeles and back. Not long after returning home, he was presented with an opportunity to help form Lowland Pumps alongside two partners. Over time, BB became the sole owner before Lowland Pumps was later acquired by the owners of MB&R Contractors.
From the beginning, the mission of Lowland Pumps has been simple and unchanged: meet the needs of its customers. That philosophy reflects a belief long shared by BB, inspired by the idea that success comes from helping others succeed. By focusing on solving real problems and supporting customer goals, long-term partnerships are built naturally.Today, Lowland Pumps is proud to have turned customers and vendors into lasting relationships throughout the region, from Chattanooga to Abingdon, Virginia. The company has helped facilities improve operations, overcome challenges, and grow more successful than when those relationships first began.
As industries evolve and customer needs continue to change, Lowland Pumps remains committed to adapting, learning, and delivering solutions that meet the demands of tomorrow — grounded in experience, craftsmanship, and a dedication to service.
